Cap 10-25 mm tall x 1-15 mm broad when young, ovoid and covered with white to grayish brown fibrillose- stringy scales, expanding at maturity to broadly conical then plane, striate, gray, glabrous or with grayish brown Viel fibrils on the center. Gillss free, crowded, white or gray then becoming black, quickly deliques-cent. Stem 45-75 x 2-5 mm, gradually enlarged down¬ward, not rooting, pubescent to fibrillose, white. Spore Deposit black. Edibility: edible.
