Cap 40-60 mm broad, hemispherical expanding to plano-convex with a central umbo in age; dry, glabrous at first, outer surface breaking up into small flattened scales that are easily removed; margin striate under the scales, white with a yellow to pale yellowish brown center. Gillss free, close, broad, white. Stem 40-60 x 4-8 mm, cylindrical with a small bulbous base, glabrous, fibrous, white to pale pinkish gray; surface quickly staining burgundy red where bruised; with a white, membranous, persistent annulus near the apex. Spore Deposit white. Edibility: unknown.
