Cap 10-25 mm broad, convex to obtusely conical, hygrophanous, glabrous, viscid, translucent-striate, brown to reddish brown when moist, fading to brownish tan with moisture loss. Gills adnate, subdistant, broad, brown, mottled at first. Stem 30-50 x 2-4 mm, cylindrical or narrowed downward, dry, pale brown above, reddish brown below, with white fibrils; no partial veil. Spore deposit dark purplish brown. Edibility: edible but not recommended because of toxic and hallucinogenic mimics.
