Cap 20-50 mm broad, hemispherical to convex expanding to broadly convex, viscid, glabrous, yellow to straw-colored or ochraceous. Gills adnate, close, broad, purplish black. Stem 50-80 x 4-8 mm, cylindrical above a slightly enlarged base, dry and white above, viscid and yellow below, with a viscid, fibrillose partial veil that remains as an annulus or only a zone of fibrils near stem apex, often blackened by spores. Spore deposit dark purplish brown. Edibility: edible.
