Fruting Body 15-30 mm broad, globose to pear-shaped, with or without a sterile base. Peridium less than 1 mm thick, when young covered with appressed, tiny (0.5-1 mm dia.) angular scales, yellow to yellowish brown with brown scales; peridium flesh white but quickly staining pink to red. Gleba at first dark purplish black with white streaks, becoming dark grayish brown. Spores dark brown. Edibility: poisonous.
